PNP to commemorate 5th Anniversary of Maguindanao Massacre(NR 14-152)

On November 23, 2014, the Philippines will commemorate the 5th Anniversary of the Maguindanao Massacre where 58 Filipinos, 32 of whom were journalists travelling to a political gathering were murdered in Sitio Salman, Barangay Masalay in Ampatuan Maguindanao. The PNP is one with the public in honouring the memories of the innocent lives taken from the heart-shattering incident that has served as the basis for the commemoration of this event.
The PNP in coordination with other law enforcement agencies shall ensure a safe and peaceful commemoration of the event. Security preparations are planned to thwart possible attempts by lawless elements of sabotaging the rites.
Nevertheless, the PNP will implement maximum tolerance during the incidence of mass protests.
In a bid to deny the occurrence of similar incidence and as a prelude to the upcoming 2016 elections, the PNP assures the public that it will act as a peacemaker to deter political clan rivalries and other election-related incidents. The PNP will replicate the conduct of its election-related PCR activities done last 2013 elections, by way of uniting rival political clans through the signing of peace covenants for all candidates.
Likewise the PNP leadership further reminds police personnel to always observe the Police Operational Procedures and provide the highest respect to human rights in conducting CDM operations during mass protests.
Furthermore, the PNP asks the public to provide the police with relevant and timely information and other unscrupulous activities with the intent of sabotaging the event through social media (Twitter-@proarmm & @PNPhotline or Facebook Page-Philippine National Police & PNP Pro Armm Bulletin) or through the following Dial 117 or text 2920; and Isumbong mo kay TSIP 09178475757).
